My name is Miranda. I am mum to two boys 16 and 18. We have 3 daft cats and a gorgeous miniature schnauzer named Milo. He loves sitting in on tutoring lessons, and getting sneaky cuddles under the table!
I have been teaching for 26 years now across the primary age range. I am retiring in August 2022 to focus on my tutoring business.
I specialise in tutoring primary aged children in phonics, early reading, handwriting, English and Maths. I usually conduct some baseline assessments at the start of our learning journey, then plan bespoke 1:1 sessions for the individual child based on their needs and interests.
I aim to keep learning fun and engaging with lots of chance to learn, practise and apply new skills. Each session builds in recap time to make sure learning is remembered. I use lots of resources to make learning practical and 'hands on'. With extensive classroom based knowledge, I am able to ensure that what we do in our sessions matches in with the teaching and learning styles currently in use in primary classrooms.
I tutor from my home in a dedicated room.
Alternatively, for students who live very close to me, I am able to travel to your home.
